You're from t...Europe is not really very small. You're from the United States, which are big and empty and only recently settled by the Old World, so your perspective is skewed. The Middle East is not too much bigger than Europe but is largely desert, so is North Africa. India is smaller than Europe. Northern Asia is howling wasteland.
