Goodman Games upcoming Old-School game

Apparently, it's going to use funny dice (d5, d16, and d24), in addition to the standard D&D dice. I think this is a big mistake. Unless the game comes in a box set with dice included, I am probably going to pass on this. I want a good game that doesn't require me and my friends to go out and buy dice that we won't use for anything else. I know the game is still in the playtest stage, so I'm really hoping they drop the dice requirements. It will really cut down on the number of potential players.

I love funky dice. This might be a reason for me to pick it up (I was planning on skipping it.)

No need to purchase new dice to generate those numbers.

I'll be passing on this anyway. There are plenty of old school games on the market. Goodman missed the boat and this smacks of desperation on their part...

I don't know that they are desperate. After all, this is more of a hobby thing for him. I do wish he had decided to do this 2 years ago, when the clones were just getting started. He'd have a major foothold established, and knowing his company, probably 20 adventures written for it already.

d5= d10/2

d16= 1d8 and any other die, roll an odd # on the second die and you add 8 to the d8 roll.

d24= 1d12 and and any other die, roll an odd # on the second die and you add 12 to the d12 roll.

to me it's going to have a bunch of original in it and be oldschool at the same time to have a chance.
