New Star Wars movie is good - no spoilers.

I just saw the new Star Wars film. I liked it a lot. It's definitely better than Eps 1-3, and I think it also better than RotJ.

FRIENDLY TIP: THERE IS NO AFTER-THE-CREDITS SCENE. You can leave as soon as the credits start rolling. You won't miss anything.

Holy Day of a God of Peace

Just a fun idea I had for the Holy Day of a God of Peace.

Any army that initiates a battle on the Holy Day will lose, badly. Troops will be slaughtered, generals will die, and everything that might go wrong will go wrong for the attacking army. If a general plans an attack on that day, including trying to cheat by starting it the night before, something odd like having his horse fall on him, a random arrow hitting him in the eye, etc, WILL happen. This includes a king who tries to force his general to attack, against the generals wishes.

Basically, the God of Peace will have peace on his holy day, or he will kill off any army that tries to break it.

Gaming wasteland

Haven't played in a tabletop rpg session in months. I kind of miss it, but honestly, I've spent much of that time online gaming or watching anime. It's hard to believe, but I might actually have outgrown my main hobby since I was 13.

I don't really even get excited about rpg's anymore, and I certainly don't know what any of the new releases are. I haven't even picked up D&D 5e yet, and that's damn near unheard-of for me. I even had the 4e PHB.

Just random shower thoughts, since I realized I haven't even updated this blog in two months.

Just did another "Blogs I follow" clean-up

Lord knows I haven't been posting, but I just went through and checked all the blogs I have on my Follow list. I ended up removing 8 blogs that haven't been updated in two years or more. There are another group of blogs that haven't been updated in a year, but I am keeping them for a bit, just in case.

It is hard to keep blogging about gaming, and I think a lot of people don't realize it. Many blogs start out great, with a solid 20 or 30 posts over a month or two. Then they just stop. Coming up with fresh ideas is hard, especially when many other blogs are out there, and a lot of neat ideas have already been done by someone else.

In any case, I hope we continue to get new gaming bloggers, and that the older blogs keep on trucking.

Pilots vs. the Necromancer

This is a fantastic Setting Idea. Really wish I'd thought of it.

Post-apocalyptic world where the Necromancer controls armies of undead. The heroes are pilots who fly WWI biplanes, and are regarded as knights or paladins. Highly recommend you check this out!!!

Christopher Lee passed away

Hard to believe, as I've watched him all my life (I loved his Dracula movies when I was a kid). Christopher Lee has died. He lived a long, storied life, and I could only wish to do half of the things he'd done.

From English spy in WW2, to one of the best actors ever, Sir Christopher will be missed. RIP.

Tanith Lee passed away

Tanith Lee has died. She was a great fantasy author, and if you have not read any of her books, I recommend you do so. RIP.

Glorantha Guide now out

I had no idea this even existed, but it was posted on the RPGSite Forums. I'm definitely interested, even though I've had a long love/hate relationship with the world.

Guide To Glorantha

On one hand, it has a fantastic mythology. On the other, I'm guessing 90% of the material is all about the Dragon Pass and Sartar region. I would jump on a book about the West, but it seems that Greg Stafford isn't all that interested in the area. I kind of think he only included it to make the general gaming public happy.

In any case, the books look great and I'm strongly considering jumping back into this world, even though I know I'll never actually game in it.

It's been a gaming wasteland for me lately

Haven't really done anything with roleplaying games in months. I guess I really needed a break, as I haven't even read an rpg book since last year. Certainly don't have a gaming group anymore (curse that stupid woman my GM married). Anyways, hopefully that will turn around sometime. I will say I've gotten a lot more stuff done around the house since I'm not gaming for hours every week. ;)

Has anyone made a good d6-based fantasy rpg?

There is D6 Fantasy, but that is pretty generic. Same with Gurps and Hero. Has anyone made a game similar in tone to Dungeons and Dragons, but using the D6 rules specifically modified for a D&D style of game. Also good art (my favorite style is similar to Warhammer Fantasy) would be very helpful.
